The Urban Rodent Problem

Full Description:

which is a nice way to say "roof rats" which have been reported in the downtown area and which caused the closing of the cafeteria at Fremont Middle school. The good news: The School problem is now over, and the health district says that it is NOT A HEALTH PROBLEM. THEY HAVE TESTED LOTS OF CAPTURED ROOF RATS AND FOUND NO DISEASES ETC THAT ARE HARMFUL TO PEOPLE. It can be a nuisance though, and the health district recommends the following:

  • Trim trees and shrubs, especially the skirting of dead palm tree leaves.
  • do not feed pets outside. dog and cat food is their favorite!
  • seal openings into your home around pipes etc. more information is available at Clark County Health District Website or by calling 383-1251 Checklist for detecting presence of Roof Rats
